Somatics

What is Somatic Movement?

Somatic movement is system of movement that was created by Thomas Hanna.

It incorporates a range of movements designed to address neuro-muscular imbalances in any tight muscles in your body. These gentle exercises encourage a lengthening and re-education through voluntarily contracting and releasing tight/held muscles, and will help you connect your mind to your body and improve movement in your body as a whole. It is deeply effective and relaxing!

I have completed two sets of training in teaching Somatic Movement and currently include  Somatic movements within my Yoga classes, to encourage a greater awareness to how the body moves.  I also teach regular Somatic Movement only classes, on a Tuesday morning from 10am to 11am at Trinity Methodist, and on a Thursday morning at 9.30am at Ridgeway Community Centre, full details can be found in the table of classes section under the Yoga Heading.
